Tuskegee: More than the study

Between 1932 to 1972, the United States Public Health Service’s Syphilis Study, based at what was then known as the Tuskegee Institute, recruited poor Black men who had been infected with syphilis and denied them the cure for the disease in the name of research. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Black leaders in Tuskegee work to combat the vaccine hesitancy built by the notorious study.
